I knew nothing about the topic before taking Professor Gilbert’s microcourse, BTM 230 Santa Fe All Indian Band, but I quickly found that its story was an engaging entry point into a broader exploration of Native American history, culture, and the ways Native communities have been represented throughout American history.

Professor Gilbert has a unique ability to make history accessible and memorable. Through a combination of historical resources, interview content, and thoughtful storytelling, he brings context and humanity to the stories he shares. 

The short, self-paced videos and supplemental materials made the course easy to engage with while still providing depth for those who want to explore further.

“Premium” is the word I would use to describe BTM 320 Hopi Runners from Professor Gilbert. I once had the great honor of taking an independent study (in addition to several other courses) with Professor  Gilbert on Hopi athletes at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and I can say that he offers the same high-quality education in this course as I received from him at the university.
